FRANCE NATIONAL ENERGY LEAGUE

About this League

The France National Energy League is part of the World Championship for Energy Savings (WCES), a global initiative developed under the Global Alliance for Buildings and Construction.

It is implemented in partnership with the Ministère de la Transition écologique, which leads national policy on climate, energy, and building performance.

France plays a pioneering role in performance-based regulation of buildings, making it a key reference country for the WCES approach.

League Objectives

The league aims to identify and showcase the most energy-efficient buildings across France based on real, measured performance data.

Buildings compete at the national level and may qualify for international recognition at major climate events.

Policy Context (France)

France has established one of the most advanced regulatory frameworks globally for improving the energy performance of existing buildings.

In this context, the WCES acts as a market accelerator, helping identify top performers, structure benchmarking practices, and support the transition from regulatory compliance to performance leadership.
