KENYA NATIONAL ENERGY LEAGUE

About this League

The Kenya National Energy League is part of the World Championship for Energy Savings (WCES), a global initiative developed under the Global Alliance for Buildings and Construction.

It is implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development, which leads national policies on housing, infrastructure, and urban development.

As a rapidly growing economy, Kenya has a unique opportunity to integrate energy performance into its building stock from the outset, positioning itself as a leader in sustainable urban development in Africa.

League Objectives

The league aims to identify and showcase the most energy-efficient buildings across Kenya based on real, measured performance data.

Buildings compete at the national level and may qualify for international recognition at major climate events.

Policy Context (Kenya)

Kenya is progressively strengthening its framework for sustainable buildings and energy efficiency as part of its broader development strategy.

In this context, the WCES provides a practical, low-barrier framework to structure data collection, identify high-performing buildings, and support the development of future policies.
