The Somalia National Energy League is part of the World Championship for Energy Savings (WCES), a global initiative developed under the Global Alliance for Buildings and Construction.
It is implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, which leads national efforts on environmental protection, climate resilience, and sustainable development.
In a context of rapid urbanisation and evolving infrastructure, Somalia has an opportunity to integrate energy performance into the development of its building sector.
The league aims to identify and showcase the most energy-efficient buildings across Somalia based on real, measured performance data, where available.
Buildings compete at the national level and may qualify for international recognition at major climate events.
Somalia is progressively strengthening its institutional framework for environmental management and climate action.
In this context, the WCES provides a flexible and accessible framework to support data collection, identify emerging good practices, and contribute to long-term capacity building.
